Spring Off The Shoulder

Yesterday was the official first day of spring, which made this post even more fitting (pun intended), because this season is all about shrugging off your sleeves.

Though off the shoulder fashion trends have been popular for decades, they’re making a huge comeback. We saw bits and pieces on Spring 2014 Rebecca Minkoff and Christian Siriano runways, last summer on Olivia Palermo, and ubiquitously on spring/summer 2016 catwalks. It’s clear the off the shoulder look is in.

An off the shoulder silhouette makes for the perfect nonchalant sexy look. It looks flattering on every women by showing off just right amount of skin, but it can be intimidating. If you’re lost on how to master those bare shoulders, it’s okay because once you figure out how to rock it it will become your go to look for the rest of spring and all summer.

If it’s a top, you can style it with anything from skinny jeans and denim cutoffs to patchwork mini skirts. If it’s a dress, it’s all about the accessories. I styled my off the shoulder dress from Forever21 with their stone faux choker set, wool floppy hat, and Banana Republic’s single knot cuff. I then added my new cat eye shades by zeroUV and Vince Camuto wedge cage sandals for an edgy vibe.

Since off the shoulder silhouettes are so versatile you can go with a wide range of looks. Let me know what you think in your comments below!
